Smith-isms

What is a Smithism?
A Smith ism is a tradition, a habit, a saying, a song, or a special recipe unique to our family.
Sleepy Milk    a very special recipe to help a child or adult relax and go to sleep. It can be made in any color
the child wants.  When drank it allows the person too relax and sleep and have sweet dreams.  WE consider this magic as it calms the child down almost immediately.
Another Smithism  is a song made up by Grandma Smith about the time Aunt Bev had polio. However it was sang to all of her children, therefore it is being passed on to her grandchildren and great grand children.

 'CLOSE YOUR LITTLE PEEPERS'
Close your little peepers...1-2-3
Close your little Peepers ... Think of me
Close your little Peepers...  4-5-6
Close your little peepers...Play no tricks
Close your peepers ... 7-8-9
Close your little peepers... Every things fine
Close your little peepers...9-10-11
Close your little peepers ...and dream of Heaven

Sometime a Smithism is and unusual food prepared for special times and is willingly shared but usually
those not of Smith lineage avoid our custom.

Orange and Lime jello  with green olives---(very few will admit they like it or even will try it...)
Fresh straw berry pie ----this liked by those who try it
Lemon Cheese cake--- mmmmm  mmmmmm good

Another food passed on to the Hendrix clan is Applesauce Pie. (I suppose this is a Hendrixism?!)

This was created by Grandma Jean for Jerry or better known as Poppa J, as he didn't care for the
apple slices in Apple pie.

There are others I know but share the ones you think of and e-mail either Jan or Julie and they will add them to the Chatter Page. Love, MOM
