Hendrix/Porter Camping Trip 2012

For the last several years the Idaho Hendrixs and the Porters have tried to go camping together.  It has always been a great time filled with stories, games, laughter, good food and plenty of memories. (Occasional injuries, but we will not dwell on the negative.)

Here are a few pictures from the latest trip.

Getting ready to go Hiking
John and Jared dropped us all off at the trail head, and then had to drive the cars to park outside the campground.  While we were waiting for them to come back we decided to have the kids sit together for a few pictures.  They started getting silly and asking to do different types of poses.  Here they are just hanging out.

Here they are being serious and in deep thought.

Here is a silly picture.

Here is an action shot.

Here is the result of the action shot...
Lia broke her leg jumping off the log.  It didn't swell as you would expect a broken leg to swell.  So we thought she probably just sprained something.  Poor girl was a trooper.  She was pretty happy and still loved to play with her cousins (as long as it didn't require putting weight on her leg). So we all took turns carrying Lia around for the rest of the trip.  By the last night she still wouldn't put weight on it, so as soon as they got home John and Alison took Lia to have it checked.  Sure enough she had broken it. She is now sporting this lovely pink cast.

Anyway, back to the hike...
Here is a picture of the J Porters at the end of the hike.

Here are the Hendrixs

Playing in the Creek
Camping wouldn't be complete without playing in the creek.  The kids built a dam, swam, threw rocks, splashed and had a great time.

Bear Lake
Our last day camping was spent at Bear Lake.  It was a beautiful day for picnicking, building sand castles and swimming.

The boys found these pieces of wood  in some of the empty campsites.  They brought them back as firewood, but ended up having a great time building and playing with them.  It was so cute to watch.  I guess boys can turn anything into a toy.
